This reminds me of the time a friend of mine was going to drill his steering shaft and zip tie it together to get back into a race.

just take the wheel cables off until you get a new bracket and main cable...

edit: sorry, I meant: “until the hydraulic handbrake kit arrives”

no worries, those zip ties will give it up first..........

I was thinking the same.

Those zip ties can’t hold mechanical force of this magnitude!

He was racing a Nova and was in a minor accident that snapped the steering shaft. His plan was to drill holes in the two halves and use zip ties to hold it together.

He was actually in the engine bay trying to drill the shaft when we finally talked him out of it.

i’d hate to make my little sister an instant orphan........

still working out that seating thing. i got me covered, just got to get something for a passenger. might keep my eye open for an old folding chair. or a spare tire, with a seat back. maybe an old folding jump seat out of a smaller truck........i’m not too picky on what my passenger sits on.......

I’m sure there’s a racing seat that’ll fit in Beetle.

yes. and i got one for me. its just that, well, quite honestly, i almost NEVER have passengers. so i have gotten rid of the passenger seat in the daily. the last time someone needed a ride(three years ago) they rode on a toolbox(jacket for a cushion).
